MALAYSIA - Apr 24, 2003 For the first time, the United Nations is considering expanding its definition of discrimination to protect homosexuals in a resolution introduced by Brazil and 19 other nations.Malaysia, which still uses antique British colonial anti-sodomy laws and "religious police" to harshly oppress its citizens and jail political opposition, joined in an unholy Alliance of Hate with Libya, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia to have all rights protections based on sexual orientation removed. The UN's historic resolution acknowledges "deep concern at the occurrence of violations of human rights in the world against persons on the grounds of their sexual orientation" and calls upon all countries of the world to "promote and protect the human rights of all persons regardless of their sexual orientation" and for the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights "to pay due attention to the phenomenon of violations of human rights on the grounds of sexual orientation." |
