TAIWAN - Jan 11, 2003 On Dec 15, 2002, the Taiwan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eugene Chien, and Minister of Education, Huang Jong-tsun, presented the "Young Diplomats" award to Taipei First Girls' High School students for their mini-musical entitled, "How would you arrange a short trip for a friend visiting in Taiwan?".Their cheery performance at the Public Television Service included the line, "Whether you're a supporter of KMT (Kuomintang) or DPP (Democratic Progressive Party), a blue collar worker or white collar businessman, a homosexual or a heterosexual, Taipei is the place for you!" The five Young Diplomats, who beat out 169 other high school teams for the top honor, was awarded a free trip to Singapore where the government has yet to provide a warm welcome for homosexual tourists. |
