TOKYO - On Aug 11, 2007, nearly 3,000 marchers took to the streets in the city's 6th annual pride parade, celebrating all the way from Yoyogi Park through Shibuya. Thousands of onlookers cheered the LGBT marchers. It was Tokyo's largest public pride event yet. Members of Japan's Upper House, Ryuhei Kawada and Mizuho Fukushima (leader of the Social Democratic Party); member of Lower House, Nobuto Hosaka; transsexual Local Assembly member, Aya Kamikawa; and former Osaka Assembly Member, Kanako Otsuji (who is openly lesbian) joined in the march.
