"New hang out has just opened, Bali Joe (BJ) in Dyana Pura St, right next to Antique Restaurant. Very relaxing and cozy place, with sofas and lounge with very artistic Art Deco/Eurasian decor. Old black and white celebrity photographs hanging on the walls. Superb. Cute and friendly waiters, hot bartenders, nice jazzy music. The crowd includes local and Jakarta celebrities and top models. "Great fab new place called Bali Joe in Dhyana Pura, Seminyak. The decoration is wonderful inside, the music is good. It starts in early evening and finishes around 2:30am. The aircon is cool inside.   Jln Double Six at Blue Ocean Beach. A modern, high tech and trendy cocktail and wine bar with good DJs. Same owners as Spy Bar. Gay friendly and busy on weekends. Expat crowd.
• Mixwell Bar N Lounge (mixed)
  Jln Dhyana Pura No. 6, Seminyak, 736-864, FAX 736-864, email. A small bar with outside terrace for relaxing with a cocktail and friends, old and new. Great shows and dancers come on frequently, so you never get bored. DJ spins lounge music nightly. It gets going about 9pm whereas other places start at midnight or so.

  Bali Beach Shack, 7 Sahadewa St, Legian, 0817-470-8730, email. About 150m from the old Hulu towards Melasti St, in a new Aussie-owned building. Bali's first gay bar, and popular cabaret show. Reasonable drink and snack prices. There are regular special events such as Hulu Drag Idol and tributes to famous song divas. They serve food, perfect for a pre-show dinner. Two shows nightly on Thu, Fri, Sat and Sun at 10pm and 11:15pm. You might want to book a table on busy Fri and Sat nights.

  Jln Double Six, Seminyak, Kuta, 731-266. Open-air beachside club. Swimming pool and bungee jumping! Gets going late (after 2am) and rolls until dawn. international DJs. It's common for guys to meet here and go for a walk together on the beach, then return to the club for more dancing.
• Ocean Beach (mixed)
  A club from the famous Ku De Ta group. The floating dancing floor is a lot of fun. Drinks are more expensive and there is an entrance fee. Great ambiance with lots of juicy gay and straight guys jumping around half naked and throwing each other in the water.
